Durham Police have charged an off-duty officer with impaired driving after a crash in Whitby on the weekend.
The crash happened around 1:40 a.m. Sunday morning at Brock Street and Consumers Drive.
The off-duty officer rear-ended another vehicle that had three people inside and two of them were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The officer was arrested, his vehicle was impounded for seven days and his license was suspended for 90 days.
41 year old William Browell of West Division, has been charged with Impaired Driving and was released on a Promise to Appear.
He has been assigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of the case.
