St. Lawrence College in Kingston, Ont. is cutting ties with a professor after he allegedly posted a disturbingly violent, homophobic comment on social media.
Business professor Rick Coupland apparently posted “It’s the queers they should be hanging, not the flag…,” in the comment section of a Facebook post linking to a news report about the mayor of a Florida city raising a rainbow flag in honour of Pride celebrations.
“We obviously took these comments and the complaint very seriously and we immediately launched an internal investigation,” Kelly Wiley, a spokeswoman for St. Lawrence College, told Global News. She also says the investigation is still ongoing.
2 of 2: this matter was investigated internally. Mr. Coupland is no longer an employee at St. Lawrence College.

Coupland’s page has since been removed, but his last post said he would be leaving Facebook for a while, saying “I’ve been called into work and told to bring my representatives re: my comments on FB. Please pray for me and my job…”
