Environment Canada is ending a Special Air Quality Statement for Toronto.
Halton, Peel, York and Durham were also affected.
Environment Canada’s Geoff Coulson says this isn’t quite the same has a smog alert however. “Now, we’ve gone over to the Air Quality Health index which is a scale that goes from 1-to-10 and when we start to get to the moderate range like a four or six we usually issue these statements”. Coulson said.
Coulson anticipates the city’s air quality to return to normal this evening before showers and possible thunderstorms roll in on Tuesday.
