For the second time this summer we have had a complicated prison escape, this time in Mexico. Joaquin (El Chapo) Guzman, the world’s richest and most powerful drug trafficker, escaped from a maximum security prison this weekend after slipping down a shaft from his prison cell’s shower area and disappearing into a sophisticated tunnel with ventilation, lighting and a motorcycle used to move dirt. Speculators are saying there is no way for Guzman to escape without the guards knowing. The guards were either paid off or intimidated into allowing the escape.
In a world where money and intimidation reign supreme, is there anything that can be done to prevent any future prison breaks?
