A man found guilty of plotting to derail a Via Rail train in the Province may have been motivated by a severe drug addiction.
According to a Dr. Jess Ghannam who specialises in terrorism cases, Raed Jasser was a con man who did not have any consistent radical Islamic ideology, but rather a man who would do anything to feed his addiction.
Fr. Ghannam’s testimony is being heard as part of Jaser’s sentencing hearing.
Raed Jaser and his co accused Chiheb Esseghaier were found guilty of a number of terror related offences in March of this year.
One of which, conspiracy to commit murder carries a sentence of up to life in prison.
