Many members of the community gathered Saturday afternoon in honor of 14-year-old Lecent Ross, the teenager who was shot and killed on Thursday.
John Tory and Councillor Vincent Crisanti were among those who visited the neighbourhood on Saturday. Tory says he spoke with the mother of the victim, saying they have the support of the community, and recognize community concerns.
Ross was shot while at a townhouse on Jamestown Cres., near Martin Grove Rd. and Finch Ave. W. Police are calling the incident suspicious, and say she died of a gunshot wound fired from an “illegal, prohibited, semi-automatic handgun.”
Det. Rich Petrie is encouraging members of the community that if they see something illegal they should tell authorities and described the neighbourhood as a “hush-hush community.”
Officials are asking anyone with information to contact them.
