After six years of preparation, construction, marketing campaigns, controversy & snags, the Pan Am Games opened today with many Torontonians greeting the event with a shrug. Mayor Tory has been trying for weeks on end to get people pumped up for the Games with little success – with some reports saying people aren’t even sure where Pan Am Games are being held or what they’re for. Meanwhile, the NYT says Toronto is apathetic about these games. Is that an accurate description? Seems most people are looking forward to them or pissed off about them. Are we apathetic about Pan AM?
