Did this guy deserve an absolute discharge?
Manuel Delisle, the Quebec motorist who wielded a chainsaw when confronting a family who had followed him around the streets of St-Jerome in an effort to get his licence plate. Delisle had driven erratically shortly before the incident.
When the cars hit a dead end, Delisle pulled out his chainsaw (he works as a pruner with the City of Montreal), and revved it up menacingly at the window of the following car. The driver captured the incident their cellphone, which went viral after it was posted.
Earlier this week, Quebec Court Judge Jean La Rue granted Delisle an absolute discharge following his guilty plea.
La Rue stated that the family who followed Delisle was partially to blame for the encounter, as they had tailed him for quite a distance.
Delisle was previously suspended with pay from his job as a pruner with the City of Montreal, but has since returned to work.
Do you think the judge made the right decision?
