An autopsy has been done on the body of a man who died late Wednesday night in Hamilton.
It was first reported the death was the result of a dog attack, but police now say that was not the case. However, the cause has not been released, nor has the name of the victim.
It’s being treated as a sudden death investigation.
The dog involved was also previously identified as a pit bull, but it has since been identified as a sharpei-fila mix, which is currently with the local Animal Control.
Police had issued a statement on it’s website earlier Thursday, indicating 2 men were walking a dog in the Barton Street East and Wentworth Street North area, when the dog turned and attacked one of the men, and that a passerby with a baseball bat struck the animal.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
