A new study shows that sugary drinks are responsible for the death of 1,600 Canadians annually, working out at roughly 4 deaths a day.
The study also found that the Canadian figure is higher than most other wealthy industrialized countries, with diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer the leading causes of sugar related deaths.
The study looked not just at soda pop but also at energy and sports drinks as well as fruit beverages, sweetened iced teas.
So what do you think should be done? Should a sugar tax be introduced? Should free refills be banned? What about advertising?
Have your say.
