Mayor John Tory has called for a meeting between Uber and officials with the taxi industry.
The meeting is slated to take place Monday morning at 9 a.m.
This comes just days after an Ontario Supreme Court judge dismissed a claim by both the City of Toronto and cabbies who say Uber needs to follow taxi regulations.
CEO of Co-op Cabs, Peter Zahakos says they’ve been trying to get the mayor to adhere to the issue for months now over the fact that there are two sets of rules for those in the taxi industry and Uber.
Zahakos warns that Toronto could see a situation where there are no holds barred, meaning taxi drivers could start making up their own rules to compete with ride sharing programs.
