Convicted murderer, convicted serial rapist and declared ‘dangerous offender’ Paul Bernardo has applied for day parole in the Toronto area. Bernardo, now 50, was sentenced to life with no chance for parole for 25 years in 1995 for raping and murdering 14-year-old Leslie Mahaffy and 15-year-old Kristen French. The families involved are said to be devastated by the news. Is this a ploy on Bernardo’s part to generate attention for himself? The infamous inmate also wants out of his prison cell, is it too harsh to suggest Bernardo be placed into the general population of a Canadian prison, knowing he would be killed according to the prison justice system?
