Well, this sounds familiar!
Another incident has occurred involving a motorist braking for ducks on the highway, and it has resulted in a serious injury.
The motorist who stopped on Highway 101 near Wolfville in Nova Scotia to allow ducklings to cross is wanted by Nova Scotia RCMP.
That driver’s decision to stop caused a car behind them to do the same. Unfortunately, a biker failed to do the same and drove into the rear of the second car. The 60-something rider remains in hospital with serious injuries.
The duck saviour failed to remain at the scene.
If this story sounds familiar, well, it should.
Almost the exact same thing happened in Quebec back in 2010. Emma Czornobaj stopped her car on a highway so that a family of ducks could cross the road. Cars behind her stopped, but a motorcycle failed to follow suit, resulting in the death of both riders, who were father and daughter.
Emma was hit with a 90-day prison sentence after being found guilty of criminal negligence and dangerous driving.
Oakley Show guest host Lorne Honickman argues that if your first instinct is to hit the brakes when you approach a family of ducks on the highway, your driver’s licence should be taken from you!
