Taxi driver Behrouz Khamseh has accused the mayor of violating the council’s code of conduct with his supportive comments about Uber. He’s filed a complaint with the Integrity Commissioner pointing out that members of Mayor John Tory’s campaign team have been contracted to work with the ride-share app and that Rogers (Tory’s former employer) has offered Uber promotions.
The following statement has been made by the Mayor’s office:
The Mayor’s Office is not in receipt of this complaint and is only aware of it through media reports.
The Mayor has been clear – he intends to follow the rules and be in compliance with all relevant law. He meets and corresponds with the Integrity Commissioner, and receives advice from external counsel, to ensure that he is.
Does Khamseh have a case? Is there a conflict of interest if Tory still has connections to Rogers – who has been contracted to work with Uber and done promotions for the ride share app?
