Toronto City Councillor Adam Vaughan has announced he’ll be running in the Trinity-Spadina federal by-election.
The Ward 20 Councillor says he will resign, Tuesday, and run as a Liberal in the election.
“It has been an incredible privilege to serve the people of Ward 20 for two terms, but it’s time Toronto had someone in Ottawa who works with us, instead of ignoring the problems that are unique to Canada’s biggest cities,” said Vaughan in a press release.
“I believe the best person to bring about that change is Justin Trudeau and I want to join him Ottawa to put a national spotlight on issues like affordable housing and gridlock,” he added.
Adam Vaughan won the Trinity-Spadina municipal election in 2006.
Voters will go to the polls June 30.
